Our History

By comparison, The Christian Gospel Fellowship is a relatively young church. It is independent and autonomous. Born in the summer of 1985, TCGF started meeting in a home in Eyers Grove with a core group of approximately 20 individuals. As the years passed by, the church was blessed with spiritual growth as well as physical growth. This growth necessitated a change to a location at the Jerseytown Community Center, Jerseytown. After several years and continued growth under sound Biblical leadership and doctrine, TCGF made another much-needed physical transition in 1992 to an abandoned Methodist Church located in Iola. In 1998 the present church home and sanctuary were built on adjoining land and shortly after another addition of new Sunday School rooms and a Family Fellowship Center was added. The steadfast sanctuary and fellowship hall of the old church are still used for various fellowship and youth activities as well as a prayer altar location which is available at all times.

TCGF has been blessed with the sound teaching of many spiritual men over the past years. Dr. Walter Minto, Sr., served as Pastor Emeritus for many years until he went home to be with the Lord. Pastor Paul Converse, Sr. has served as the church’s pastor for 20 years.  In 2023, Pastor Converse announced his retirement from full-time, professional ministry.  A Pastoral Search Committee began in earnest in April 2023, and in January 2024, Pastor Mark Boyer was installed as an Elder and as Senior Pastor.
